According to the Hindu Panchang or lunar calendar, every month has two Chaturthi tithis. The Chaturthi that falls after the full moon is called Sankashti Chaturthi. and the one after the new moon is called Vinayaka Chaturthi.

Devotees of Lord Ganesha observe a strict fast from sunrise to moonrise on Sankashti Chaturthi. During the fast, they eat only fruits and edible roots or plants that grow beneath the earth symbolizing purity, simplicity, and closeness to nature.

On this day, two essential qualities of Lord Ganesha are invoked ; Knowledge [Gyana] and Wealth [Sampatti]. Worshiping on this day helps one achieve wisdom, prosperity, and inner stability.
Puja Vidhi ; Worship Method
Offer Lord Ganesha 11 Durva grass knots.Chant the following mantra 108 times with devotion:
- Om Shreem Gam Saubhagyadayine Ganapataye Swaha
